What is Sentris?
Sentris is a mature, MANTECH developed COTS product with over 20 years of proven performance in data labeling and access control.
Sentris provides the unique capabilities needed to strengthen security posture through a Zero Trust Architecture, serving as a foundational component of the DoD Zero Trust Data Pillar.
Referred to as the Sentris Security Paradigm, Sentris controls access to data based on the intersection of 3 criteria: 1) Who is accessing the data? 2) Where is the data being accessed from? And 3) What system is the data being accessed from?
Visual awareness is key. The Sentris Platform Client provides a persistent, color-coded banner at the top of the workstation, ensuring users are always aware of their current session's clearance level and access controls.
Designed to support the Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements to prevent inadvertent disclosure of restricted information, Sentris automates the application of security markings. In supported Office applications, such as PowerPoint, users simply click "Classify" or “Save” to launch the highly customizable Classification Wizard. You can select markings—like Secret Apples—via dropdowns, checkboxes, or text fields. Sentris automatically applies the appropriate headers, footers, and portion markings, ensuring every document is "dress right dress" and fully compliant with stringent DoD manuals without requiring manual user memorization.
To prevent human error, our "Sensitive Word Search" feature acts as a "dirty word" filter, scanning for keywords configured in the Sentris Administration Tool based on your Security Classification Guides. For example, if sensitive terms are detected, Sentris can recommend or force the correct classification level, ensuring the technical implementation of security controls is consistent across the organization.
For large-scale data management, the Sentris Bulk Marking Tool allows users to select - and mark - hundreds of documents at once. You can choose to overwrite existing markings, apply markings at the level of any sensitive words that are detected, and apply labels to Office files. Sentris applies the markings to the metadata in the file's alternate data stream—the "hidden metadata" used to pass information to other Sentris applications—almost instantly. This allows for the processing of thousands of documents in seconds, extending RMF-compliant labeling to Office files, PDFs, and virtually any file type.
Sentris protects data as it moves across the enterprise. In Outlook, the Sentris Validation Agent on the Exchange Server verifies the assigned accesses of every recipient in real-time. If a user is not authorized for a specific access control marking, the email is rejected, and the sender is notified.
Similarly, for SharePoint, Sentris applies "claims-based" protection; if a user lacks the required Top Secret and "Cherries" clearance, the unauthorized files simply do not appear in their view.
Sentris also protects data at rest. You can use Sentris File Shares or our next-gen file share solution, the Sentris Mirror. The Sentris Mirror offers native Sentris session filtering and bypasses the traditional Active Directory limitations, allowing storage to be hosted anywhere—from a NAS to a SAN.
From the workstation to the enterprise network, Sentris ensures your data is accurately labeled and strictly protected at every touchpoint.
